In the Groove 1 Game Interface
February 2003
In the Groove was a long time in the making, and in the process of coming up with this design, we went through several complete redesigns until the entire team was happy with the look. The game was built for 640 x 480 resolution, to be used originally as an upgrade kit to Dance Dance Revolution arcade machines. It was later adapted to run on the Playstation2, PC computers, and even a large screen multiplayer arrangement for gyms and schools. The design was roughed out as wireframes, finalized as a multi-layered Photoshop file and then each piece was exported to PNG for placement in the game on top of background video. I placed most of the graphics and adjusted the already written placement code to get things arranged just right. There were a over a dozen interface screens; 6 are shown here.
